Happy Thanksgiving from VeloFest! 2016 has certainly kept this bicycle advocacy organization busy in ways that continue to challenge us and grow our understanding of the processes to help further the mission of bicycle safety. We certainly would not be able to continue this mission without continued annual support of local businesses. Flagler Hospital, Beck Automotive, Canan Law and Neville Wainio CPA year over year have helped provide the financial support to keep the systems running.
But it is also about partnerships and open doors. VeloFest for 6 years has endured thanks to the many partners in the community. We enjoy our relationships with organizations such as St. Johns County Sheriff Office and Florida Department of Transportation. These types of partnerships help keep the wheels rolling to find solutions good for cycling.
But this Thanksgiving we are especially thankful for the efforts of many that helped accomplish one of our biggest bicycle infrastructure projects to date. The removal of the rumble may have been a time of heightened frustrations but we kept our eye on the horizon and saw a potential blessing in disguise. Not only did the community rally for a cause but following up with our various partners at FDOT we are excited to see a funded bike lane from Ponte Vedra to Vilano. This was the vision of VeloFest long ago. A place where anyone can come and we can work towards better solution, and for that we are truly thankful!
