VeloFest Partnership Brings Bikes to Foster Kids

Aging out of the Foster Care System. In many states the transition from foster care to the “real world” can be abrupt and traumatic: when a young adult turns 18, they must learn to survive on their own.

Every year Coldwell Banker, Brightway Insurance and Family Support Services of North Florida Inc. provide Christmas gifts to young adults who have “Aged Out” of the foster care system. Patrick, a 19 year old college student with a part time job, didn’t ask much for Christmas.  All he wanted was a bike so that he could get to class and work while he saved up for a car. We heard that Patrick’s grades were great and that he was striving to be the best person he could be, despite the hardships life handed to him. When VeloFest heard about his inspirational story, we knew this was a program we wanted to support.

Michelle Santorelli, a Real Estate Agent at Coldwell Banker and a founding member of the VeloFest Organization, coordinated with to present Patrick with a brand new bike and safety gear for Christmas. VeloFest is so proud to be a part of this very meaningful program in our community. Thank you Coldwell Banker at World Golf Village, Brightway Insurance, Family Support Services of North Florida Inc, and for making these kids’ lives a little bit brighter!

Michelle Santorelli has been a invaluable VeloFest Member, Coordinator, and Veloteer who has been with us from the beginning. The VeloFest Organization would not have it’s great success within the community without her determination and dedication. Thank you Michelle!
