VeloFest is proud to announce the 2016 Bicycle Helmet and Bicycle Rodeo schedule! Thanks to St. Johns County Parks & Recreation, The “Berney” Copeland Memorial Fund and of course VeloFest’s many sponsors including Flagler Hospital, Flagler Orthopedic & Sports Medicine and ETM we have nearly 1000 helmets for toddlers to teens!

Mark your calendar for May 15 with the kick off at Solomon Calhoun Center for a fun day with bicycle safety checks, free helmets and food trucks! Learn more about keeping healthy and safe while riding and walking. Kids will have the chance to participate in cross walk designs, a bicycle “wash” and have a helmet fit by a certified fitter! Parents will also get tips on how to keep children safe while playing or commuting to school. This will start as soon as the “Give it a Tri” Triathlon is over that morning. 11167310_10153227471656182_854153566_o

Additional events include the Lincolnville Festival September 24 at Eddie Vickers Park as well as St. Augustine Beach National Night Out later in the fall.

All helmet fittings and bike “rodeos” will feature the Safe Routes to School bicycle trailer, a partner program of the Florida Department of Transportation with the assistance of St. Johns County Sheriff Department. This trailer provides excellent tools including bicycles for 2 to 100 year olds!

We want to see all 20,000 school children in St. Johns County with a bicycle helmet by 2020. VeloFest Community Initiative is still seeking partners for this and other projects. Please consider reviewing our partnership information by clicking here or going to www.gofundme.com/velofest to make a personal donation! Every $1 counts for this veloteer organization.
